Place & story
The harbour arrangement
A bridge closes the basin’s south-western end, with a lock at its northern corner and a dry dock to the north-east. Limestone kerbs and walls define the harbour, with iron bollards set around the edge. [2]
The 2009 underwater assessment
During preparations for new harbour facilities, Eoghan Kieran’s February 2009 survey examined the riverbed visually and with metal detection. It found gravel and stones but no archaeological material within the assessed area. [3]
