Place & story
Arriving by the number 62
Margaret Mooney recalled travelling to Goatstown in 1950 on the number 62 single-decker from Burgh Quay, through Ranelagh and Clonskeagh. She got off at Larchfield Road for Roebuck Park. O’Brien’s farm shop supplied milk and bread, while Sheeran’s shop stood at the bus terminus opposite the Goat pub. Before Rosemount estate was built, she remembered walking across fields towards Taney Road and Holy Cross Church. [2]
Classrooms at Roebuck Grove
The Religious of Jesus and Mary opened their school in Roebuck Grove House on 3 September 1963 with 33 pupils, including 18 junior children. The junior school became a public national school in 1971. It admitted boys in 2003, and pupils and staff moved into a new sixteen-classroom primary building on 29 August 2012. [3]
