Place & story
Repairing the Clock Tower
Conservation of the Clock Tower building began with stabilisation and refurbishment in 2014. Accessibility improvements followed in 2016, and further conservation work took place in 2022. The Grangegorman Development Agency records the preservation of original sash windows and the carriageway gates, with part of the building adapted for offices. [2]
Students and a new library
The first 1,000 students arrived at Grangegorman in 2014 following refurbishment of North House. The East Quad opened in late 2020 and the Central Quad in April 2021. Moving teaching from older city premises involved transporting almost ninety pianos. A further stage followed in September 2026 with the opening of the Academic Hub and Library, designed by O’Donnell and Tuomey around the restored North House. [3]
