Place & story
Across the Callan
Tassagh Viaduct extends about 570 feet across the Callan River, rising more than 70 feet above it. Its eleven arches span 45 feet apiece and rest on concrete piers, with brick facing on the arches, walls and parapets. A local historical society photograph taken in September 1993 recorded the structure after ivy removal and repointing. Its accompanying account notes that the railway closed in 1957 and that the viaduct had been listed as a historic building. [2]
