Place & story
The thatched farmhouse
Kingsmill Farm stands on Ballynargan Road north of Stewartstown. Its front datestone reads 1743. The official survey describes a whitewashed house with a thatched roof between parapet gables, adjoining stone outbuildings and the recognisable layout of two original dwellings. A 1981 restoration included rethatching with wheat straw. [2]
Corn and flax
The survey traces King’s Mill on the 1833–34 map and Kingsmill on the 1858 revision. Thomas McReynolds added a flax mill by 1864. The corn mill was demolished in 1884 and its kiln in 1902, while the flax mill apparently continued working until at least 1929. [2]
