Place & story
An early Catholic church
Saint Peter’s Catholic Church is dated 1790 and was built with land and funds donated by two local landlords, commemorated on its early plaque. The low building follows a T-shaped plan, with lancet windows and north and south transepts. A later stone tower carries a pyramidal roof covered in patterned slate. The church and its landscaped grounds form the village core, while the adjoining graveyard preserves cut-stone memorials from several periods. [2]
