The Cabry bridge and the mill
The road bridge at Carrowkeel crosses the Cabry River on three rounded stone arches and dates from about 1780. Triangular cutwaters protect the piers, while rubble parapets continue the plain masonry of the structure. The first Ordnance Survey map, made around 1837, showed a corn mill, mill stream and pond just south of the crossing. The bridge therefore belongs to a landscape of milling and road transport as well as to the village's approach to the Foyle shore.[2]
Greenbank’s nineteenth-century congregation
Greenbank Presbyterian Church is dated 1862. Pointed windows, buttresses and a quatrefoil opening in the entrance gable give the stone building its Gothic character. Its grounds contain graves and a church hall. The congregation's own history explains that Greenbank was formed by a section of the older Moville congregation. The church consequently records both a nineteenth-century building campaign and the development of a distinct local congregation within the wider Presbyterian community of Inishowen.[3][4]
A living willow playhouse
A small community project at Quigley's Point Playgroup took shape in winter 2016, when a living willow dome was planted for outdoor play. A 2018 case study by the funding organisation records how difficult rocky ground initially threatened the planting. By spring 2017 the willow had grown into a playhouse for the children. Support from the Crockahenny windfarm community fund also provided play equipment, connecting local childcare with a modest investment in shared outdoor space.[5]
Both counts use the 2016 settlement boundary, allowing like-for-like comparison. CSO supplies the 2022 count on this older boundary for comparison only. The official 2022 Built Up Area has different boundaries.
