Place & story
House and entrance
Mount Corbitt dates from about 1780. Its principal block has two storeys over a basement, with an attic above. Limestone steps narrow towards the central entrance, where a fanlight and sidelights frame the doorway. The entrance gives a formal centre to the otherwise restrained facade. [2]
Courtyard and grounds
West of the house is a courtyard of outbuildings, forming part of a planned stable complex. Curving entrance walls combine sandstone and limestone and end at square piers. Together, house, service buildings and approach preserve the arrangement of a country estate within the wider Churchtown district. [2]
