Place & story
From milling to other work
The architectural inventory dates the Burrellspark corn mill complex on Station Road to about 1775. Around 1850 a parallel range was added behind the original building. Milling had ceased before 1948, after which the premises served as offices; by 2002 they had also been used as a gallery. Extensive renovation in 2002 accommodated continued residential use. The original block’s rubble limestone walls, cut-stone corner dressings and iron tie bars preserve construction details beneath those changes of purpose. [2]
