Place & story

An expanding village school

Cloneen National School’s institutional history describes parents building an Arts’ Room after the school grew to three teachers in 1979. Later growth prompted an extension ready in 2004. While that work was pending, fourth, fifth and sixth classes were taught in the renovated former school in the churchyard. A further extension came into operation in 2009. These episodes record how the village school combined new accommodation with reuse of an older building. [2]
