Place & story
Oak slopes and wet woodland
Knocksink Wood lies in the Glencullen River valley northwest of Enniskerry. The National Parks and Wildlife Service’s 2019 synopsis describes sessile oak woodland at its southwestern end, with holly, hazel and great wood-rush below the trees. Springs and seepage areas occur across the wooded slopes, while ash and alder dominate wet forest beside the springs and river. The service dates the nature reserve’s establishment to 1994. [2] [3]
