Place & story

The former feed mill

Mosside's 2011 village plan identified North Antrim Mills at 30 Main Street as a former animal-feed mill. Permission for housing redevelopment had been granted in July 2009, but the plan recorded that work had not begun. The old primary-school site on Moycraig Road was also awaiting redevelopment. These dated entries show how former working and educational premises were becoming questions for the village's future. [2]

Making a meeting place

Mosside Development Group was established in September 2002 to improve community facilities. Three years later it bought a portable cabin, providing a meeting room, kitchen and basic office equipment within the village. The plan records its involvement with the Communities in Transition programme and cooperation with local organisations, giving a concrete example of residents creating space for collective work. [2]

Language, sport and public art

The same plan lists Ulster Scots words incorporated into a park and paving, a local heritage book and murals celebrating sporting figures among the group's projects. Its survey of village organisations included the Clodders Club, devoted to horseshoe throwing, alongside bowling and young farmers' groups. These recorded activities connect everyday recreation with the village's efforts to express and preserve its cultural identity. [2]
