Place & story

A geometric entrance beside Griffith Park

In the wider Drumcondra district, the library on Millmount Avenue stands beside Griffith Park. The National Inventory of Architectural Heritage dates it to 1937 and attributes its design to Robert Sorley Lawrie. Its low brick elevations have windows wrapping around the corners, while a stepped Art Deco entrance rises above the eaves. A tiled roof and central geometric portal distinguish the building from the district’s older institutional houses. [2]
