Place & story
The Presbyterian church
Corraneary Presbyterian Church is a late eighteenth-century landmark at Roosky. The National Inventory of Architectural Heritage dates the present building to 1791 and records that it was reroofed in 1848. Its rectangular, single-cell plan and tall lancet windows give the modest building a Gothic character. [2]
Inside the meeting house
A gallery at the eastern end rests on paired pillars. Timber pews flank the central aisle, which leads towards an octagonal Gothic-style pulpit at the western end. A boarded vaulted ceiling spans the interior. Outside, wrought-iron gates mark the entrance from the road. These features retain the arrangement of a compact rural Presbyterian meeting house. [2]
