Place & story
Culcrow and Milltown
Culcrow National School also appears in the Public Record Office of Northern Ireland’s collections under the name Milltown National School. Both names lead to the same school archive, SCH/946. The surviving enrolment registers listed by local historian William Macafee cover 1858–1956. [2] [4]
A classroom link across the Atlantic
During the 2020 school closures, children from Culcrow Primary School and Derryboy Primary School joined a live video link with Maine. Organised by the Ulster-Scots Agency, it connected their migration studies with the McFadden family’s former homestead. Pupils spoke with descendant Brad McFadden and archaeologist Pam Crane about the excavation. [3]
