A writer living in Indreabhán

The 2011 writers’ portrait project records Mícheál Ó Conghaile living in Indreabhán, having been born on Inis Treabhair. His work includes the short-story collection An Fear a Phléasc, published in 1997, and the novel Sna Fir, published in 2000. An Taibhdhearc staged three of his plays, and he became a member of Aosdána in 1998. The portrait also records his publishing company based in Indreabhán. [2]

Publishing books and recording singers

Ó Conghaile founded Cló Iar-Chonnacht in 1985 while still a university student. Alongside its books, the company initially set out to record Connemara musicians, particularly sean-nós singers. Its publishing later encompassed fiction, poetry, history and audio editions. In 2021 Ó Conghaile sold the company to its longstanding manager, Deirdre Ní Thuathail. Its present address is in An Spidéal. [3]
