Place & story
From classroom to handball alley
Wolfhill National School’s building dates from 1943, when it replaced an earlier school. The old premises subsequently became a handball alley. An extension in 2005 added two classrooms and a room for special education, continuing the development of the school site. [2]
Repairs at Saint Mary’s
Saint Mary’s Church was built using local stone. The parish records that its altar window was destroyed in the storm of 1903 and replaced that year through a gift from Father James Parkinson. The interior stonework was pointed in 1964, followed by renovations in 1979–1980 under architect Michael Crowe. [3]
