Place & story
Saint Michael’s church
Saint Michael’s Church dates from around 1853, according to the diocesan parish profile published in 2014. A further programme of work was reported in 2017: repairs to the sacristy, interior painting and new lighting preceded improvements to the grounds. Local fundraising included concerts, quizzes and card games, while a drama performance was arranged in Cloonacool Community Centre. [2] [3]
Four schools brought together
The present Saint Michael’s National School brings together four earlier schools: Cloonacool, Masshill, Carnaleck and Corsallagh. The school’s own history preserves the names of these institutions and links them to the community’s educational past. [4]
