Place & story
Christ Church, Dromard
Christ Church, Dromard, was built in 1817, a date inscribed over its entrance. The Church of Ireland building stands in a wooded setting at Tanrego East or Carrowmore. Its cruciform plan is unusual: the transepts lie at the western end beside the tower, with the pulpit also positioned to the west. [2]
An intact church interior
The National Inventory of Architectural Heritage records timber box pews, a stone floor and original oil lamps mounted on brass poles. Coloured leaded glass lights the eastern window. Outside, traces of slate cladding survive on the tower and transept, while a former schoolhouse and graveyard complete the group. [2]
