Place & story
Scully residents
William Scully, a son of Roger Scully of Kilfeacle and Dualla, was living at Dually in the later eighteenth century. John Scully was recorded there in 1837. His marriage in 1811 to Catherine Moore, sister of the poet Thomas Moore, gave the household a literary family connection. [2]
A house held from the Lathams
In the early 1850s Roger Scully occupied the property as a tenant of Oliver Latham. The buildings were valued at £24 and fourteen shillings. The University of Galway’s Landed Estates record places this house specifically in Dually townland, Ballysheehan parish, in the barony of Middlethird. [2]
