Stone arches preserve a trace of the former Letterkenny–Burtonport route.
A reliable full-name meaning has not been established here. The recorded Irish and English forms are given without an unsupported translation.
A group of three railway bridges in Carrick, Templedouglas, carried the former Letterkenny–Burtonport line across local obstacles. The National Inventory of Architectural Heritage dates the group to around 1903. The bridge over the Leannan has two segmental arches, while the road crossing uses a single arch. Rough-faced stonework with carefully finished margins frames the openings and distinguishes their construction. Recorded in 2016, the bridges preserve part of the railway’s physical route after trains ceased running. [2]
