Place & story
The ringfort landscape
Fingal County Council identifies three forts on the 1837 Ordnance Survey map of Corduff. Their later settings illustrate the area’s transformation: one site lies beneath housing, another survives in Corduff Park, and a third occupies open space in Warrenstown. Such enclosed farmsteads were characteristic of the early medieval countryside. [2]
Beneath Corduff House
Excavations in Corduff Park in 2009 uncovered parts of Corduff House and earlier remains beneath it. Archaeologist Judith Carroll recorded a stone-walled structure cutting an older field ditch, and a limekiln southeast of the house. The investigation accompanied construction of a childcare centre on the former estate. The Warren family had made Corduff their home in the early seventeenth century. [3]
A new parish
The Archdiocese of Dublin records that Corduff became a separate parish in 1976, formed from Blanchardstown. Saint Patrick’s Church on Blackcourt Road serves this newer chapter of the community’s history. [4]
