Place & story
Fry’s paper mill
Rockbrook Mill, beside the grounds of Rockbrook Park School, dates from about 1820. The L-shaped building steps down from the road towards the river, with brick and rubble walls, large arched openings and an outlet to the water. The architectural inventory records its operation by the Quaker Fry family until the late 1830s, within a busy local milling landscape. [2]
A school founded by parents
Rockbrook Park School was established in 1975 by a group of parents. Its own account describes cooperation between parents and teachers as central to the founding project. The secondary school occupies grounds at the foot of the Dublin Mountains and provides the six-year post-primary cycle for boys. [3]
