Place & story
The station opens
Harmonstown station opened on 27 January 1957, according to the Irish Railway Record Society’s station index. It lies on the Dublin–Drogheda railway route. Iarnród Éireann identifies its entrance on Harmonstown Road and lists it as part of the DART and Dublin commuter network. [2] [3]
Modelling the DART
Around 1980, as the DART project began, CIE commissioned the South Dublin Model Railway Club to build a model of the proposed stations at Dún Laoghaire and Harmonstown. The club’s own history recalls that the layout included overhead wires and DART trains and was exhibited at the RDS Spring Show. [4]
