Place & story
Kilns and chimneys
Fleming’s Fireclays at Slatt Lower retains two rounded brick beehive kilns, dated to about 1935 by the architectural survey. Two freestanding chimneys on the site carry the dates 1948 and 1953. [2]
The manager’s house
The works also had a brick manager’s house, built around 1940. Its single-storey main range has a dormer attic and an L-shaped plan. A plaque on the west wall commemorates Patrick Joseph Fleming. [3]
