Place & story
Urglin Church
Urglin Church was built between 1787 and 1820 on an earlier church site. Its three-bay Gothic Revival form uses granite detailing, including hoodmouldings and pinnacles. A drawing preserved by the Representative Church Body Library records the existing interior and a proposed seating arrangement in August 1857, under architect Joseph Welland’s name. [2] [3]
Rutland House
Rutland House dates to about 1830 in the National Inventory of Architectural Heritage survey. The three-bay building rises through two storeys over a raised basement, with a granite entrance surround and fanlight. A pedimented projection marks the rear elevation. [2]
