Place & story
Two parish portions in 1911
The 1911 census recorded five inhabitants in Gurteen’s Ballingarry parish portion, three male and two female, in one occupied house. Its Loughkeen portion had twenty inhabitants, eleven male and nine female, in three occupied houses, with a fourth house uninhabited. The area of 728 acres, two roods and thirty-five perches appeared against the Ballingarry entry; an asterisk and footnote included the adjoining parish portion within that area. Both entries belonged to Ballingarry electoral division, Cloghjordan dispensary district and Borrisokane Poor Law Union. [2]
