Place & story
A raised burial ground
The 2008 historic buildings survey places Donaghendry Graveyard in Glebe, Donaghenry parish. Its burial ground stands above the surrounding field, with much of the rubble boundary wall serving to retain the raised ground. Iron gates and sandstone piers mark the entrance. [2]
Names preserved on the memorials
Two vaults have elliptical openings and stucco fronts imitating masonry. One commemorates Joseph Stewart of Coalisland, who died on 29 July 1889; the other names Hugh Kinley, who died on 20 December 1879, and members of his family. An adjacent memorial bears the signature of mason John Robinson of York Street, Belfast. [2]
