Place & story
Crossing Meelick Creek
Meelick Bridge crosses the Crompaun River, also called Meelick Creek, between Meelick and Clonconane. The National Monuments Service records a humpbacked road bridge dating from about 1800, with one arch and walls of limestone and sandstone. Red brick forms the arch surround. A bridge also appears here on seventeenth-century Down Survey mapping; the archaeological record cautiously suggests that the present crossing may occupy its site. [2]
