Place & story

From agreement to implementation

A December 2017 agreement between Cork’s two councils included Blarney in a proposed city extension. The Local Government Act 2019 provided its legislative basis, and the boundary change took effect on 31 May 2019. The city council’s 2024 election guide places the city part of Blarney electoral division in Cork City North West. These records describe administrative change, without defining the boundaries of Blarney village. [2] [3] [4]
