The local school’s account records how educational buildings changed use in the wider Bullaun community.
A reliable full-name meaning has not been established here. The recorded Irish and English forms are given without an unsupported translation.
Scoil Éanna’s own history dates the earlier Bullaun National School to 1888. It describes two large classrooms and separate boys’ and girls’ yards divided by a wall, with toilets at the rear. The old church stood across from the school. These details record a former arrangement of the village’s public buildings, rather than the layout of the present school. [2]
When Scoil Éanna opened in 1960, the earlier national-school building became the village hall. The school describes its replacement as a three-teacher building with a water tower, shed and indoor toilets. Its account recalls an ordinary enrolment of about seventy pupils during the following decades. This school history concerns the wider community served from Bullaun, beyond the boundaries of the historical townland alone. [2]
